Selective Memory is an exploration of the interplay between personal experiences and the enduring effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) on memory. Through a curated collection of images spanning 8 years, the series delves into the complex nature of recollection, revealing how trauma reshapes and distorts our perspective. Each photograph highlights the paradox of memory—selective and intuitive–by using visuals in the form of barriers, metaphors, and windows, how they can block us from attaining something while still hinting at what is out of reach. Through this body of work, I seek to create a dialogue around the malleability of memory and the impact of our lived experiences on the intricate tapestry of the mind. Selective Memory is a pictorial, wordless diary that captures the resilience and vulnerability formed when healing from trauma. It prompts reflection on memory and the effect of lived experiences on our consciousness.
